DECATUR, IL — Betsy Dirksen Londrigan joined Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) today to speak with workers at IBEW Local 146 in Decatur about defending Medicare and Social Security from harmful cuts. Rodney Davis met with Speaker Ryan behind closed doors yesterday to discuss their tax giveaway that will blow a $2 trillion dollar hole in the national debt. Ryan has proposed cutting Social Security and Medicare programs to pay for it — and Rodney Davis has voted several times for Ryan’s plan to privatize Medicare and turn it into a voucher program.
“I’m proud to be here in Decatur with hard-working men and women discussing my commitment to protecting earned benefits like Medicare and Social Security,” Londrigan said. “The people of Central Illinois deserve an independent Representative who will stick up for them in Congress, not wealthy donors.”
In addition to International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Londrigan has been endorsed by the following labor organizations: United Steelworkers, Steelworkers Organization of Active Refugees, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, United Food and Commercial Workers (Local 881), AFSCME District Council 31, Illinois Federation of Teachers, International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers (Illinois State Council), United Auto Workers, SEIU, SEIU Healthcare, Communication Workers of America (District 4), and the Illinois AFL-CIO.
