Londrigan Campaign Statement on DC Republican's Rodney Davis Rescue Mission

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Today, Mike Pence and the entire Illinois Republican Congressional delegation are holding a fundraiser at a Springfield country club to raise money for career politician Rodney Davis. Davis is virtually tied in the polls with Betsy Dirksen Londrigan and, with voters losing trust in Davis' record, he and his supporters have launched a series of nasty, "categorically false" attacks against Betsy.
“Washington D.C. Republicans are so worried about losing Rodney Davis’ loyal vote that they’re pulling out all the stops to raise even more money from the large corporations and special interests that Davis gave a massive tax break to in Congress," said Londrigan campaign manager Emma Brown. "But no amount of money can fool Illinois voters. They know Rodney Davis voted to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions, kick tens of thousands of Illinoisans off their health care, and that his tax scam blew a two trillion dollar hole in the deficit...that Republicans want to pay for by cutting Medicare and Social Security. No wonder he called in the reinforcements to help bail out his campaign."
Earlier today, Londrigan was endorsed by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, in part, because of her political independence and the fact that she is "more likely to march to her own drummer." The Post-Dispatch criticized Davis for being an "obedient and unquestioning footsoldier" for Washington D.C. Republicans and their special-interest driven agenda.
